You’ve probably heard the saying, “a rising tide lifts all boats.” That’s the spirit behind All Rise Strategies. Success doesn’t need to come at the expense of someone else. People and organizations can achieve their highest potential not by competing for scarce wins, but by creating conditions where everyone can thrive. Sustainable growth is shared growth. When we lift others up, we all rise.

The name All Rise, also evokes my days as a courtroom lawyer. It’s the call to stand together when the judge and jury enter. It’s in a moment of shared recognition of our collective desire for justice. It also symbolizes a belief that communities, organizations, leaders and even adversaries are connected by something greater, and that progress is strongest when it is shared.

The redwood tree in our logo reinforces this vision. Redwoods are among the tallest and strongest living things on Earth. Yet their strength doesn’t come from deep, isolated roots. Instead, their roots spread outward and intertwine with neighboring trees, creating a shared network of support. In times of storm, they hold one another upright. In times of need, they even share nutrients and water to sustain each other.

That’s how I think about leadership and strategy: interconnected, relational, and purposeful. Effective leadership is:

  • Rooted in Values: Clarity of values provides stability, even in uncertain times.

  • Sees the Forest and the Trees: Strategy requires both the wide view and attention to detail.

  • Fosters Growth with Purpose: Expanding in ways that strengthen the whole ecosystem, not just a single branch.

All Rise Strategies exists to help leaders and mission-driven organizations put these principles into practice. My goal is to partner with leaders who are ready to move beyond business as usual — who want to create and transform systems, cultures, and outcomes that make a difference in the lives of others.

As I begin this journey, I’ll use this blog to share reflections, tools, and stories that connect leadership and strategy with real-world impact. I hope you’ll follow along, and I invite you to share your own perspectives on what “growth with purpose” means in your work.

Because when we rise together, we rise stronger.
